Description

The Chelsea 281GGFJP-H5XD is a PowerShift (hydraulic) hot-shift Power Take-Off assembly from the Chelsea 281 Series, designed for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison applications. The 281 Series is an evolution of the widely used 280 Series and incorporates a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than gray iron, an o-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap for improved clamp load, and steel clutch disc thickness increased by 80% over the predecessor. Nine speed ratios are available across the series, and the design supports continuous operation. Common markets include fire and rescue, refuse, truck cranes, and pumper-cleaner trucks. Call us to confirm proper fit and ratio selection for your specific application.

Additional Information

The Chelsea 281 Series builds directly on the proven 280 Series platform with three targeted engineering upgrades. The ductile iron bearing cap replaces the gray iron unit and delivers 117% greater strength. An o-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap reduces vibrational effects and improves clamp load retention. Steel discs within the clutch pack are 80% thicker, resisting premature tooth wear under the demands of modern engine designs. Additional series features include rotatable cast iron flanges for improved pump clearance, a positive stop for driveline outputs to eliminate oil seal damage from coupling, an optional Wet Spline lubrication configuration providing 7 to 10 times greater shaft life, SmartStart for reduced shock load at start-up, and Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) to protect driven equipment. Typical markets include fire and rescue, refuse collection, truck cranes, and pumper-cleaner vehicles.
