Description
The Chelsea 890JBFJW-B3CZ or 890JBFJWB3CZ is a hydraulic PowerShift power take-off built specifically for Allison 3000 MD and 4000 HD Series transmissions. It mounts via a 10-bolt pattern and uses an SAE C (“XS”) output shaft with wet-spline lubrication to extend pump shaft life in demanding service. The 890 Series design positions the pump mounting flange at the rear of the transmission, placing the output where there is adequate clearance between the transmission and the frame rail. The one-piece main shaft eliminates intermediate input splines, and the clutch is located at the rear of the housing so the gear section tucks tightly to the transmission. Continuous-duty torque rating reaches 670 ft-lb, with shaft power of 64 HP at 500 RPM and 128 HP at 1,000 RPM. The Chelsea 890 Series was designed specifically to solve pump clearance limitations on Allison 3000 and 4000 Series transmissions. Unlike a standard side-mounted PTO paired with a separate extension, the 890 is a single integrated unit. The housing and gear section mount flush to the transmission side, while the clutch assembly is positioned at the rear of the PTO to push the pump output further back, away from the frame rail. A rear bracket provides additional support beyond the standard side-mount attachment points. Wet Spline Technology is standard across the 890 Series, continuously lubricating the output splines to reduce wear in high-cycle or high-torque applications such as fire and rescue pumpers, aerial lift trucks, truck-mounted cranes, and refuse vehicles. The 890 Series can be ordered to accommodate transmissions equipped with a cooler, a retarder, both, or neither.
